When you look at the municipality of Berg, you will realise what makes life worth living in a cosy, friendly agricultural and wine-growing community. At the foot of the Königswarte, surrounded by vineyards, fields, meadows and natural forests, our village nestles invitingly and smoothly into the lovely landscape on ground steeped in history, between the Pannonian lowlands and the easternmost foothills of the Hundsheim mountains.

As early as 800 AD, the first settlers from Bavaria appreciated the beneficial climate of this geographical location on the edge of the Danube river. With the mountains behind them and the lowlands as a view from Lake Neusiedl to the Schneeberg, they laid the foundation stone for our present-day community in their convivial cosiness. The border situation to Hungary, between East and West, made our village a witness to numerous battles of the most diverse peoples and put the people living here to a hard test. Despite frequent destruction and extermination, the village has always been rebuilt and the warm conviviality has been maintained to this day.

Exquisite wines from the sunny south-facing slopes brought people together and still invite them to enjoy a tasty snack at the Heuriger. Whether by bike, on a horse-drawn carriage or in walking shoes, our village and its friendly people offer every guest the opportunity to spend relaxing and unforgettable hours away from mass tourism.
