The starting point of the hike to the Wieselthaler Steinwand is the beautiful Steinwandklamm in Furth an der Triesting. From the car park you follow the sign "Wanderwelt Steinwandklamm", marked blue, to the upper end of the car park. There you will find a wooden hut with information and cash desk (adults 5,00 €. children 1,50 €). After the turnstile, follow the gravel path along the slope to the stream until a bridge in the forest leads to the other side of the stream. Continue on a flat path to the entrance of the Steinwandklamm gorge. Now you follow the stairs and footbridges through the mossy rock walls of the gorge. After the first 300 m, the Rudolf Decker Steig (via ferrata A/B) branches off to the left. Follow the blue mark straight ahead over another staircase until the terrain becomes flatter again and the rocky gorge ends. At the turn-off (information board), the green marking leads straight on to the "Berghäuser" and to the Almesbrunnberg.
Continue straight on along the green mark in the direction of "Berghäuser" and Almesbrunnberg. When you reach the mountain houses, keep straight on and follow the signpost in the direction of "Furth / Steinwandklamm über Pogra". Follow the slightly ascending forest path to the highest point, where you can already see a large meadow on the right through a few trees. A path that is not clearly visible leads through the trees to the meadow. Cross the meadow, at the end of which you can already see the rocky run-offs of the Wieselthaler Steinwand.
A small path leads up to the stone wall, but it is almost invisible - so keep your eyes open! After a few hundred meters of ascent, you already reach the small summit cross on the Wieselthaler Steinwand at 886 meters. In order to round off the tour perfectly, one should absolutely cross the whole stone wall, as the summit cross is to be found right at the beginning, but the wall is much more extensive.
The Wieselthaler Steinwand has been a nature reserve since 1980 and is characterised by the steep and rugged limestone rock face. The rocks reach a height of about 100 m. The stone wall offers a great view over the nearby Wieselthaler Hof, the Gaisstein, the Hof Amöd and the Hocheck. In addition you have a great view to the Peilstein.
You can either descend over the Steinwandklamm (blue mark) or follow the path straight ahead towards Jagasitz and turn left there immediately after Gasthaus Jagasitz (yellow mark) to reach the starting point on a steep gravel road (approx. 1.2 km long).
