Logotyp Museum der Region Vorchdorf

The new museum of the Vorchdorf region is housed in the Kitzmantel factory.

The main focus of the museum is the local history from the Neolithic to the 20th century with valuable finds, documents, pictures and rare pieces of evidence of everyday rural and bourgeois history, of schools and associations, trades and commerce.

The handicraft is mainly in the areas of wood and leather processing.

The watchmakers pay special tribute to the Krumhuber family, whose pocket watches were sold all over Europe in the 10th century.

A museum specialty is the pipe collection, one of the largest in Austria. Over 300 clay, wooden, meerschaum and porcelain pipes, together with various smoking utensils, give a colorful picture of social smoking pleasure in the 19th century.

The former castle chapel is dedicated to spiritual art. In addition to evidence of popular piety, there are several valuable original works of art here, as well as pictorial documentation on the art history of the place.
