If you love the forest and its healthy fresh air, then this hike is perfect for you! With this route, you can relax well, enjoy the silence of the forest, and listen to the voices of God's wonderful creation. From the White Cross, which is a wayside shrine on the Rosalia, hike along gentle forest paths past the Glockenberg to Kremsberg and the Annakapelle. Accompanied by a stream or also by beautiful clearings with great viewpoints, you head towards the destination. The Annakapelle is a small wooden chapel. It was privately built in honor of Saint Anna, the mother of Mary. Saint Anna is considered the patron saint of wives, miners, and boatmen. In the Catholic Church, the so-called "Anna Day" is celebrated on July 26. The name Anna stands for love, grace, and charm. Every year on Anna Day, a Holy Mass is held at this chapel. It is the destination of numerous hikers, pilgrims, and walkers. Not far from it is the Way of the Cross on the High Stone. Particularly beautiful views over the orchard meadows of Forchtenstein can be enjoyed on your way via Schreinermühle and the Eisteiche to the center of Forchtenstein, where you can gladly visit the pilgrimage church Mariä Himmelfahrt with its carillon and Holy Staircase; it is worthwhile.
You can conveniently park your car for free in the parking lot located on the right-hand side before the last hairpin bend to the Rosalia Chapel. If you come by bus, the bus stop is in the immediate vicinity. Walk past the barrier and keep the direction until the first fork in the path, then follow the sign "Annakapelle - Sports Field" and turn right onto the forest trail. Continue now towards Kohlstatt, always follow the blue and white marking, and keep to the forest path. For quite a distance, continue on the forest road. Please always pay attention to the blue and white marking. Leave the forest road and turn sharply right. Now continue along the stream towards Glockenberg and Kremsberg. You will now pass lush meadows with a wonderful view over Mattersburg. Keep the field path until you reach the Annakapelle. About 100 meters after the Annakapelle, keep slightly right and hike along the Kremsberg towards Schreinermühle. Now you will reach the Rosalia bike trail; follow it along Hochbergstraße to the crossroads, Hochbergstraße Ortsmitte Eisteiche. Turn right there, cross the ford, and keep slightly left. When you arrive at the Eisteiche, keep right again and then immediately left past the orchard meadows-Gaisbach. At the Gaisbach bridge, keep left onto Antonigasse, follow it until it leads into the main street. On the right-hand side is the bus stop. From there you can easily return to the starting point of the hike. If you wish to visit the pilgrimage church beforehand, you will find it 200 meters above the bus stop.
