Set in the beautiful Sauerland and the Sauerland Rothaargebirge Nature Park, Meinerzhagen offers an attractive hiking and leisure landscape. This heart-shaped bike route takes us from the Meinerzhagen district of Valbert through numerous villages to the Listertalsperre dam. Over the dam separating the Lister and Bigge lakes, the route continues along the Lister towards Kalberschnacke, where there is an opportunity for swimming and refreshment*. After crossing the bridge, the route goes past the bathing area Hunswinkel with its jetty, through Wilkenberg back to Valbert, the starting point of our route.
*Gut Kalberschnacke is currently closed, but you can get snacks and drinks at the kiosk.
From the church, head towards the outdoor swimming pool and from there take the K7 (combined bike/pedestrian path) towards Echternhagen. At Echternhagen take a sharp right to continue on the priority road. At the crossroads, steeply turn left uphill towards Ebberg/Sellenrade. Cross the next intersection at the top towards Sellenrade, through Eckertsmühle to the crossroads and turn right towards Sellenrade. Follow the path through Sellenrade to the side road, then turn right onto "Wesetalstraße". In Beukenbeul, turn right onto the field path and ride parallel to the main road. At the fork in Weschede, keep left and continue to the main road in Papiermühle. There, turn right and before the petrol station turn left again. Leave Listerscheid and continue uphill towards Wamge. In Wamge keep right and continue on the road towards Eichen. Cross the intersection, continue to Eichen and at the side road turn left, then immediately right to the Lister dam. Cross the dam and follow the Lister to Kalberschnacke, then turn right over the bridge and left towards Hunswinkel. In Hunswinkel at the first fork, turn left towards Meinerzhagen and after the small stone bridge immediately turn right towards Eseloh. Follow the road to the side road, then turn left towards Valbert. In Wilkenberg, at the sharp curve, go straight ahead to the farm, then continue to the side road and turn right there. Continue on the road until the fork, then turn right to the main road. Cross this and ride back into Valbert to the church.
