Oberschan - Alvier - Oberschan

The starting point of the hike is the Oberschan post bus stop. From Oberschan to the Kurhaus Alvier we use the cable car. The old mountain path leads us through the shady forest to the Hübschen Waldboden, then we reach the clearing in the Letzi and cross the road to the Gonzen. Via Skihaus Gauschla we go to Labria and past the holiday home settlement to Chamm. In front of us is the former Walser settlement of Palfries with the late-medieval town hall, one of the oldest wooden houses in the canton. We admire the magnificent panoramic view into the Seeztal valley and the Flumserberge mountains, then we descend to the Palfries mountain house. The trail continues across lush alpine meadows, over the steepest section, the "Chemi-Leiter", to the Alvier. The magnificent panoramic view rewards our efforts.A steep descent leads us to the Barbieler Grat and over the Schaneralp to Alp Stofel, where we once again enjoy the view of the Rhine Valley. Then we hike back to the Kurhaus Alvier and take the cable car to Oberschan. Those who descend to the valley on foot have to allow an additional 35 minutes.
