Andelsbuch - the remarkable Bregenzerwald village at 613m above sea level
Wide and open, pretty much in the middle of the Bregenzerwald, Andelsbuch lies on a plateau. To the south rises the 1,695m high local mountain "die Niedere", very popular with hikers and paragliders. In the west, the romantic river landscape of the Bregenzerache is a popular destination for walkers and bathers.
The townscape may surprise some. Here the venerable Bregenzerwald house with its shingle façade, next to it a modern building: the harmonious, often bold coexistence of old and new is typical of Andelsbuch and the Bregenzerwald. The Werkraum Haus attracts attention far beyond its borders. The exhibition and event building sees itself as a showcase for the innovative crafts of the Bregenzerwald. It was designed by the well-known Swiss architect Peter Zumthor. The community hall with its striking cube on four stilts also looks unusual. It is reminiscent of the town hall of the "Bregenzerwald Peasant Republic", which once stood on the Bezegg near Andelsbuch.
If you take a little time, you will discover many interesting things in and around Andelsbuch. Our hosts and innkeepers provide an enjoyable setting.
