You can also look forward to the Frauenberg pilgrimage church and the Ardningalm, with hiking trails stretching all the way to neighbouring Upper Austria, as well as the truly unique natural swimming pool in Frauenberg. Ardning calls itself a “recreational village”. It is immediately apparent how this village of 1,200 souls – which, incidentally, is the birthplace of the performance artist Günter Brus – lives up to this promise with its location on the popular Enns Cycle Route.

For those seeking relaxation through hiking, the Ardningalm Hut is the perfect spot. There, you can park your car and see what’s happening a few hundred metres higher up in the Haller Mauern.
The best part: everything is on offer, from an easy alpine circuit including the alpine museum to the Wildfrauen via ferrata.

Those who are happy to do without the altitude can treat themselves to a trip to one of the last high moors in the Alps. The strictly protected habitat known as the Pürgschachen Moor is well worth a visit and can be explored via a soft, cushioned nature trail.
