Welcome to Grattersdorf!

Grattersdorf am Sonnenwald is the birthplace of the world-famous Büchelsteiner Gericht (Pichelsteiner). It is named after the local mountain of our community, the 827 m high Büchelstein. From here you have a magnificent view over the Vorwald and the Danube plain, and on a clear day even as far as the Alps. Nestled in a lovely hilly landscape, the villages and hamlets of our community lie at an altitude of between 360 m and 1016 m.

Hiking possibilities and leisure time
Here in the Sonnenwald you will find beautiful hiking trails with a total length of 485 km. On a hike with our trained nature and landscape guides, you can gain an insight into our ecologically and culturally interesting area - in a contemplative way, with a view of vivid details in nature, culture and everyday life. The special advantages of our Sonnenwald holiday area are the tranquil peace and quiet, the clean, foehn-free forest air, the cultivated hospitality and the hiking opportunities in the unspoilt forest landscape. But sociability, hospitality and sport also come into their own (horse riding, horse-drawn carriage rides, hang-gliding, bowling, tennis, indoor and outdoor swimming pools or sauna).

Excursion to the Bavarian Forest Mountains
From Grattersdorf you can reach the beautiful Bavarian Forest mountains Arber, Rachel, Lusen and Dreisessel in a short time. As well as the East Bavarian cities of Deggendorf, Passau, Regensburg and Straubing. It is also not far to the Bavarian Forest National Park or the Czech Republic.
