Splügen/Rheinwald - the land of mountains and longing

The sweet longing for the south. The dream of magical mountain experiences. In the Hinterrhein region they become one, both come true at the same time. The sky here seems southern, but the cool mountain air is fresh and invigorating.

The cultural landscape in front of the mighty mountain and glacier world also bears witness to the fulfilment of dream and longing: large, Italianate-looking stone houses stand right next to the sun-browned wooden houses of the Walsers. No wonder, Splügen is considered one of the oldest and most typical pass villages in Graubünden. No wonder, as personalities such as Johann Wolfgang von Goethe and Albert Einstein were already deeply impressed by this region with its numerous passes. And yet: the region remains a wonder.
