Preda lies at around 1800 metres above sea level at the western portal of the Albula Tunnel. The famous Albula line, part of the UNESCO route with its famous helical tunnels and viaducts, ends here.
Preda also includes the small village of Maiensässdörfchen Naz, which today is mainly used as a holiday resort. Although Preda has fewer than 10 inhabitants, the village has plenty to offer visitors. A hotel with a restaurant, a guesthouse, various holiday flats and a train connection with an hourly stop in the direction of Engadin and Chur and the start of what is probably Europe's most famous toboggan run Preda - Bergün.
